American Association of Crimean Turks

Per By Laws:

Historically, Crimean Turks as a descriptive term has been used to identify individuals who populated the geographical area in and around the Crimean Peninsula and who were descended from the Tatars. This is to declare that "Crimean Turks" are also known as "Crimean Tatars."

The American Association of Crimean Turks, Inc. is established for the sole purpose of providing support for and to The Mosque of the Crimean Turks of America, a domestic corporation organized pursuant to the provisions of Article 10 of the Religious Corporations Law of the State of New York.

The corporation shall not engage in any activity nor pursue any purpose not within the scope of Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954.

Membership is open to any Muslim over the age of 18.

Further, the AACT does not and may not engage in discrimination against members or guests based on ethnicity, whether the ethnicity is perceived or real. Equally, members may not discriminate against one another. Unique codes of conduct may not violate any Federal or State Laws, which includes, but is not limited to physical assault.

However, under the Religous Corporations Law of the State of New York, the AACT retains the right to require support of the mosque and members' acceptance of the Islamic faith in order to approve and retain membership.

In addition, to settle any member disputes over the word "Turk," in English, "Turk" includes "Turkic peoples" of which Tatars are a part of.

To emphasize, the AACT was founded by native Crimean Tatars to provide a place of worship for the survivors of the Crimean deportation of 1944 and their Turkish and American born children, but membership since 1977 is open to all Muslims of qualifying age.

__________

The AACT is not legally established to support political action.

There are other entities that engage in political action for Crimea, and you are encouraged to contact them if you are looking for a political action group. Their names can not be linked on this website in adherence to legal parameters.

All statements are true, factual and accurate to the knowledge of AACT, and should any new information become available that overrides known facts, we will apologetically update and seek forgiveness in God for any misleading information posted in innocent ignorance.
